외국인 등록증 발급

한국에 90일 이상 체류하는 모든 외국인은 외국인 등록증을 발급받아야 함

외국인 등록증 발급 시 필요서류
  1. 신청서

  5. 재학증명서
  6. 주소지 입증서류(추가로 요구할 수 있음)
  7. 결핵 건강검진 확인서
    • 중국, 스리랑카, 러시아(연방), 우즈베키스탄, 태국, 베트남, 인도, 네팔, 인도네시아, 파키스탄, 몽골, 방글라데시, 필리핀, 미얀마, 캄보디아, 말레이시아 16개국 출신 학생만 해당됨
    • 국내 지역 보건소에서 3개월이내 발급받은 확인서(2014.12.1.일부로 추가)

비자변경

D4 → D2 비자로 변경
  1. 국내제류자중 일반연수(D4)비자 소지자는 직접 출입국 관리사무소에 체류자격 변경허가를 신청하여 학기시작전에 반드시 D2 비자로 변경하여야 함
    (어학연수 만료후 외국인등록증 유효기간내 1개월이내 자격변경)
  2. 신청장소 : 현 거주지 관할 출입국 관리사무소 혹은 수원 출입국 관리사무소
  3. 비자변경 필요서류 :
    • 1) 신청서(출입국 사무소 비치 혹은 www.hikorea.go.kr 에서 다운로드 체류통합 신청서 34호)
    • 2) 여권 및 외국인 등록증
    • 3) 증명사진(3.5cm x 4.54cm) 1매
    • 4) 표준입학허가서(등록후 아주대학교에서 발급)
    • 5) 등록금 납입증명서(등록후 아주대학교에서 발급)
    • 6) 국내 체제경비 입증서류(약 USD13,000이상, 한화 약 14,200,000원)예치 예금 잔고증명서
      • 비자변경 접수시점 30일 이내에 발급된 은행잔고증명서(한국내 은행 및 외국은행 발행본 모두 접수가능, 외국은행 발행서류 제출시 필요시 번역본 요구할수 있음)
      • 체제경비 입증 시 등록금 지급분은 제외하고 입증가능(예 : 등록금을 이미 3,500,000원 납부한 경우, 3,500,000원을 제외한 10,700,000원만 입증)
    • 7) 한국어 어학연수 수료(예정)증명서(출석율과 기간이 명시된 수료증명서)
    • 8) 한국어 어학연수 기관 성적표
    • 9) 최종학력 증명서(원본 및 번역본)
      • 최초 입국 시 한국내 출입국사무소를 통하여 사증(VISA)을 발급받아 원본을 과거에 이미 제출한 경우, 어학연수기관에서 원본 대조필한 최종학력증명서 사본제출 가능
        (단, 출입국 사무소 사정에 따라 원본을 요구할 수도 있음)
    • 10) 가족관계 증명서
      • 체제경비 입증서류가 부모님일 경우에만 제출, 본인명의 체류비 입증시는 불필요함
    • 11) 체류지 입증서류(기숙사 입사확인서 혹은 임대차 계약서), 아주대 기숙사 입사자는 기숙사 입사확인서 아주대에서 발급
    • 12) 결핵건강검진 확인서

외국인의 주소변경에 따른 신고의무

  • 이사로 인한 주소변경 발생시 14일 이내에 신고를 해야하며, 미 신고시 벌금납부
  • 본인명의의 공인인증서가 있을 경우, www.hikorea.go.kr 에서 온라인으로 변경가능하며, 공인인증서가 없을 경우 주소지 변경후 관할 출입국사무소 에 직접 방문하여 신고처리



시간제취업 신고

  • 유학비자(D-2)를 소지한 유학생이 시간제취업 활동을 하기 위해서는 시간제취업확인서에 학교 유학생 담당자의 확인을 받아 관할 출입국사무소에 신고하고 체류자격 외 활동허가를 받은 후 시작해야함

  • ※ 법무부장관의 허가를 받지 않고 아르바이트를 하면 대한민국 밖으로 강제퇴거되거나 자진해서 출국할 것을 권고 받을 수 있으며, 3년 이하의 징역 또는 2천만원 이하의 벌금에 처함(출입국관리법 제46조 제1항 제8호, 제67조 제 1항 제 1호 및 제94조 제12호).

Study Permits (Visas)

Study Permits for International Students in Korea : Process and Documents

Process:

Obtain the standard acceptance letter after registration. Every applicant must prepare all the required documents himself/herself, along with a copy of the standard acceptance letter.

Changing from D4 to D2
  1. International students holding the general training (D4) permit should register with “Hi Korea” (the immigration authority) to have their permit status changed. Their permits must be changed to D2 before the semester starts (at least one month before their alien registration cards expire, after they complete language exchange).
  2. Bring the application and documents to: Office of International Affairs (OIA), Suite 312, Yulgok Hall.
  3. Documents required to change permit status from D4 to D2:
    • (1) Application (available from the immigration authority or online (Integrated Application Form No. 34) from www.hikorea.go.kr
    • (2) Passport and alien registration card
    • (3) One passport-sized photo (3.5cm x 4.54cm)
    • (4) Standard acceptance letter (issued by OIA after registration)
    • (5) Certificate of tuition fees paid (issued by OIA after registration)
    • (6) Proof of funds (e.g., a bank statement showing a balance of at least USD 20,000 (approximately KRW 23,000,000))

      Tuition fees that have already been paid need not be included in the proof of funds.
      (For example, if the applicant has already paid KRW 3,500,000 in tuition fees, the applicant needs to show that he/she holds only KRW 19,500,000 or equivalent.)

    • (7) Certificate of completing Korean language exchange or scheduled completion thereof (indicating attendance rate and duration)
    • (8) Korean language exchange transcript
    • (9) Certificate of final schooling (in both original and translated versions)*
    • (10) Certificate of family registry (in both original and translated versions)**
    • (11) Proof of residence in Korea (certificate of admission into student residence or a lease; certificates of admission into student residence are issued by the University for admitted international students)

*Students from the 21 countries designated by the Ministry of Justice or those who have obtained their degrees in those countries are required to submit certified transcripts attesting to their final schooling.

**Students from the 21 countries designated by the Ministry of Justice are required to submit certificates of family relations (indicating the family and first names of their parents in English).

D-2 Permit Renewal for Transferring to a Different University

Students who enroll in a different university must change and renew their D-2 permit within 14 days following registration.

  • (1) Integrated Application (available from the immigration authority or online (Form 34) from www.hikorea.go.kr)
  • (2) Passport and alien registration card
  • (3) Standard acceptance letter
  • (4) Certificate of tuition fees paid (issued by OIA after registration)
  • (5) Proof of funds (e.g., a bank statement showing a balance of at least USD 20,000 (approximately KRW 23,000,000))

    Tuition fees that have already been paid need not be included in the proof of funds.
    (For example, if the applicant has already paid KRW 3,500,000 in tuition fees, the applicant needs to show that he/she holds only KRW 19,500,000 or equivalent.)

  • (6) One copy of transcript from previous school (translated into Korean)
  • (7) One copy of certificate of enrollment/graduation from previous school (translated into Korean)
  • (8) Study plan (free-style)
  • (9) Proof of residence in Korea (e.g., certificate of admission into student residence, a lease, etc. – applicable only if the student has changed his/her residence in Korea)
Note
  • (1) Students must submit certificates of final schooling, family relations, etc. from their home countries in both original and translated versions. As a certified report is also required along with a certificate of final schooling, students should prepare these documents in advance.
  • (2) The standard acceptance letter, necessary to obtain/change study permit status, is issued only after students pay their tuition fees. Students whose study permits expire before their tuition deadlines must either extend their language exchange permit or return to their home countries to apply for the D-2 permit before re-entering Korea. Students whose study permits will expire before their tuition deadlines must consult the OIA in advance.
  • (3) Students whose D-2 permits will not expire any time soon must still renew their permits when they transfer to a different university in Korea.
  • (4) Students not residing in Suwon must submit their visa applications at the immigration offices of their respective jurisdictions.
  • (5) Students must complete the change of their study permits and update their school information before the start of each semester. Failure to bring their study permits up to date before the start of a semester may result in monetary fines.
  • (6) Students who have changed their residence to Suwon after being accepted into Ajou University must also submit change of residence reports.
  • (7) Students who hold permits other than D-2 must switch to D-2. Students holding F-type permits (F-1, 2, 3, 4, or 5) must consult the OIA.

Documents required for international students outside Korea to obtain D-2 permit

Process

Applicant submits required documents to OIA → OIA files documents with Suwon Immigration Office and obtains D-2 identification number on behalf of applicant → OIA informs applicant of D-2 identification number via email → Applicant submits D-2 application to Korean embassy in his/her country → Applicant obtains D-2 permit and enters Korea.

Required documents
  • (1) Copy of passport
  • (2) Certificate of final schooling (both original and translated versions)*
  • (3) Two color photographs (3.5cm x 4.5cm, taken within last six months against a white background)
  • (4) Certificate of family relations (both original and translated versions)**

    The certificate must indicate the family and first names of the applicant’s parents in English. If the original certificate does not indicate such names, attach the names in English separately.

  • (5) Proof of funds (original) : certificate of balance or bank statement associated with either the student’s own account or his/her parents’ account (showing a deposit of at least USD 20,000 (approximately KRW 23,000,000) retained for at least one month as of the date of application)
  • (6) Other : certificates showing change of family relations due to parents’ divorce, death, etc.

*Students from the 21 countries designated by the Ministry of Justice or those who have obtained their degrees in those countries are required to submit certified transcripts attesting to their final schooling.

Alien Registration Cards

Every non-Korean intending to stay in Korea for 90 days or longer must apply for and obtain an alien registration card.

Required documents:
  1. Application
  2. Passport
  3. One passport-sized photo
  4. Service charge (KRW 30,000)
  5. Certificate of enrollment
  6. Proof of residence (more than one may be required)
  7. Certificate of absence of tuberculosis
    • Required of students from 16 countries: China, Sri Lanka, the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Pakistan, Mongolia, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Malaysia.
    • Certificate issued by a local community health center in Korea in the last three months (added as of December 1, 2014).

Reporting Change of Address

  • International students must report their change of address within 14 days after moving into a new residence. Failure to report may result in monetary fines.
  • Students with a Public Verification Certificate in their own names can complete the report online at www.hikorea.go.kr. Students without a Public Verification Certificate must visit the immigration office in their respective jurisdictions in person to report.



Reporting Part-time Work

  • A foreign student with student (D-2) status of stay who intends to work part-time needs to obtain confirmation from the school personnel in charge of international student affairs and must report to the immigration office.

  • ※ A foreign student working part-time without permission by the Miniter of Justice may be deported or recommended to depart voluntarily from the ROK, and shall imprisoned with labor for not more than three years or fined up to KRW 20 million (Articles 46.(1).7, 67.(1).1 and Subparagraph 5 of Article 94 of the Immigration Control Act).
